Why Time Management is Important to get Best Engineering College

Engineering aspirants make a banging start in colleges when they are highly excited, enthusiastic and bubbling with energy. They are happy to have cracked the stringent admission procedure and finally climbing the first step of their chosen dream career. Most of them feel as if they are half engineers already by passing the entrance test and procuring a seat. They take the initial months of the first year of their degree course easily, and proceed at a leisurely speed. It takes time to settle down to the new routine, hostel life, the college campus, new teachers and friends, formalities and rules and regulations of the institution. Before the students find solid ground beneath their feet, they realize that they are immersed in projects, assignments and tests. The syllabus is well under way and the semester exams are close. They are at a loss to decide on priorities, leading to confusion and frustration. The clock cannot be reverted; hence it is extremely important to manage time wisely and discretely from the very first day of the engineering course.
Engineering course is a demanding course as far as both efforts and time are concerned. The theory part is difficult and understanding concepts is important. Since it is a practice-oriented branch of studies, it has no value without practical work. Students are required to get hands-on experience in workshops, attend seminars, go on industry visits and complete internship in the industrial sector. All this requires a lot of time. Students remain engaged from morning to evening in college activities. There is little time left for self-study and entertainment. If students do not take care and plan a proper time schedule, they may end up spoiling future prospects in spite of spending large amounts of money and 3 to 4 prime years of their life.
Excluding college hours, time has to be planned for the following:
·        Self-study and revision – Whatever is taught in the classroom must be revised regularly for better understanding and fixation.
·        Sleep and rest – When one has to work throughout the day, enough time must be reserved for rest and sleep. Lack of proper sleep may affect the health of students.
·        Recreation and entertainment –Man cannot work like a machine. To keep the brain active and charged, some kind of entertainment is crucial. Students can go for an outing or watch a movie when they have prolonged holidays for 2 to 3 days continuously. Reading, playing indoor games, listening to music for some time etc.  are other forms of recreation.
·        Social activities: mixing with friends, visiting relatives, an occasional visit to meet family members can be scheduled for longer vacations. Students must participate in festivals and celebrations in the college to remain socially active.
·        Cultural activities/competitions –students must participate in all cultural events and competitions organized by the college.
·        Exercise – Regular exercise is the key to physical health. Young students who join the engineering course must take some kind of exercise daily, early in the morning or evening, whenever they find it convenient. They can go for a walk, join a gym or play some outdoor game that they are interested in.
Wisdom lies in time management. ONLY with proper time management, you can do real justice to the engineering course and achieve what you set out to achieve in the prime period in life. Time management alone can lead to success in every sphere of life in the modern age of competition, deadlines, targets and workloads.
At S. R. College ofEngineering, students get all kinds of facilities for reading, sports, gym, competitions and cultural activities. Every facility is provided on campus. Students can study and enjoy college life by achieving a fine balance of career and holistic development.
